Duck March
We march, we murmur, step by step. We have to.
[EN] Duck March is an urban incursion, a march of pregnant women.
In every place Duck March creates a link with the territory, at each geographical stage the people who are part of it give life to a unique event.
The starting idea is the realization of a peaceful march with very simple choreographic features made up of pregnant women.
The construction of the physical score takes place collectively starting from the composition of the group and from elements offered by the social and historical context, through a careful look at the enhancement of individual specificities and cultural differences and enriched by collaboration with local artists.
We exclude from the beginning the meaning of the maternal body as sick, delicate and needy.
We escape from the clichés that enclose the woman / mother in a sweet, soft and affable image. The maternal body becomes a symbol that encloses the present, the past and the future. It embodies the collective responsibility and at the same time the wildest beauty.
In short, the project foresees that for each geographical stage will be organized an action group, some preparatory meetings, an urban march and a video and photographic documentation.
At the same time an exhibition will be organized in which will show part of the material accumulated in the other stages to amplify the impact, enhance cultural differences and give visibility to the artists and partners who have accompanied the project in the different stages.
Until now Duck March has been performed in Terni, Roma, Modena, Milan (IT), Munchen, Hamburg (DE), Giang Mo, Hoa Binh and Poom Coong (Vietnam) and Porto (Portugal).
Duck March was supported by the project DE.MO./MOVIN’UP promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and G.A.I. – Association for the Circuit of the Young Italian Artists.
[IT] Duck March è una incursione urbana, una marcia di donne in stato di gravidanza.
In ogni luogo Duck March crea un legame con il territorio, ad ogni tappa geografica le persone che ne fanno parte danno vita ad un evento unico.
L’idea di partenza è la realizzazione di una marcia pacifica con dei tratti coreografici composta da donne in stato di gravidanza. La costruzione della partitura fisica avviene collettivamente a partire dalla composizione del gruppo e dagli elementi offerti dal contesto sociale e storico, attraverso uno sguardo attento alla valorizzazione delle specificità individuali e delle differenze culturali ed arricchito dalla collaborazione con artisti locali. Escludiamo in partenza l’accezione del corpo materno come malato, delicato e bisognoso. Sfuggiamo dai clichè che rinchiudono la donna/mamma in una immagine dolce, morbida ed affabile. In Duck March il corpo materno diviene simbolo che racchiude il presente, il passato e il futuro. Incarna la responsabilità collettiva ed allo stesso tempo la bellezza più selvaggia.
La donna incinta di Duck March incarna tutte le donne del mondo. Lei è Iside, Maria Maddalena, Gea, la Llorona, la mamma anatra del brutto anatroccolo, tutte le madri di Plaza de Mayo, Kali, l’insegnante di scuola, la vicina. Lei rappresenta la responsabilità collettiva.
In Duck March tutte le donne marciano insieme per riconquistare lo spazio pubblico, per mostrare la forza e la bestialità del corpo femminile, per portare un messaggio di anti violenza e rigenerazione e per abolire, quantomeno concettualmente, le frontiere.
In sintesi il progetto prevede che ad ogni tappa geografica sia organizzato un action group, degli incontri preparatori, una marcia urbana/incursione ed una documentazione video e fotografica.
Si procede per piccoli passi e con molta pazienza, come richiede una gestazione.
Il progetto, che finora è stato realizzato a Terni, Roma, Modena, Milano, Giang Mo, Hoa Binh, Poom Cong (Vietnam), Amburgo e Porto, ha ottenuto il riconoscimento del premio Movin’up a cura del MiBACT e G.A.I. (Giovani Artisti Italiani).
